Coming to Peru, people rarely consider that the Andean Culture has lasted for at least 5 thousand years as is demonstrated by recent discoveries in Caral, near Lima, considered as the oldest civilization in America of which the Inka culture would be a synthesis having passed by previous social units such a Chavin, Paracas, Chimu, Wari, Mochica, Chachapoyas, Tiahuanaco, etc.

One of the manifestation of this prolonged culture are the festivities that we preserve, when using the variation of the Sun and Moon cycles (equinox and solstice) were taken into serious rituals in their religiosity and their customs, such as rites related to maize corn, potatoes, and a feeling of thanks to mother earth and a concept of reciprocity with the divine (earth, sun, moon, water, etc.)

Then the western world brought colonization with the arrival of the Spaniards and the catholic religion in 1532.

Presently both civilizations, Andean and Western have fused into a magical syncretism and given us culture very much alive.
